About the Ottawa Community Food Partnership
What is the Ottawa Community Food Partnership?
Mission: To support the shift away from a traditional food charity model by moving towards meaningful community engagement and food security.
The Ottawa Community Food Partnership was created in 2016 to support the shift away from a traditional food charity model by moving towards meaningful community engagement and food security. The partnership supports organizations across Ottawa that are working in community food security, such as emergency food providers, health centres, and community resource centres.
During the COVID-19 public health crisis, the Ottawa Community Food Partnership launched the Cooking for a Cause Ottawa initiative. Cooking for a Cause Ottawa is helping a variety of food businesses keep their lights on while making a profound impact in their communities.
The Ottawa Community Food Partnership is generously funded by the Ontario Trillium Foundation. Through this funding, members are involved activities aimed at strengthening the three pillars above; such as:
Implementing Community Fridges in locations throughout the Partnership
Buying seeds for ethnic foods to be grown in gardens
Funding for healthy and culturally appropriate food
Funding for community kitchens and community gardens
Our founding members
The members of the Ottawa Community Food Partnership are organizations across Ottawa that are working in community food security, such as emergency food providers, health centres, and community resource centres. We are in the process of onboarding new member agencies, and will post an updated list in the coming weeks.
